ALTURA / The Founder Issue / Women at Altitude
She didn't wait for permission.
There is a certain kind of courage in beginning again. For Nadia Sánchez Figueroa, an Ecuadorian nurse and the founder of Amor Andino, that beginning is becoming a brand: one that connects the memories of Ecuador with the textures of life in a new place.
Before she began building a collection of candles and objects, Nadia trained and worked in nursing, including rural service in Morona Santiago. That experience required patience, attention to others and resourcefulness—qualities that now inform her approach to building something of her own.
Objects with a place in the story
Amor Andino is designed to make room for more than transactions. Jewelry is an opportunity to explore adornment and symbolism. Fragrance is an invitation to remember: roasted coffee, cacao, cool air, tropical fruit and the feeling of gathering around a table.
The brand's first holiday edit is being prepared for 2026, with a longer-term signature fragrance collection planned for Spring 2027. As the products take shape, ALTURA will record the people, places, conversations and cultural context behind them.
Building, not given
This is not a story about a finished empire. It is about a founder creating something deliberately, from its first formula and first customer onward. The journey itself is part of the publication.
